BIOGRAPHY
Throughout childhood I experimented for hours with color and various mediums. It was not until I was about 10 that I sat down and tried to draw anything with any serious effort. On that day I sketched a tree in my backyard and another sketch of a church that was located at a distance from my backyard. I was both surprised and pleased with my attempts. From then on drew things that I saw in life and was inspired to see what other artists were doing.
The formal training that I had in art was during high school, drawing or painting classes, and then when I began studying Fine Arts at the University of Victoria. Unfortunately I was unable to complete my degree due to financial constraints. This did not stop me from pursuing art in my life.
My creativity has led me down many pathways; I have been a fibre artist creating quilts, wall hangings, sculptures, pictures and clothing. Most of my adult life I have worked as a Floral Designer professionally. This career path allowed me to have a job which paid reasonably well and a creative outlet. In recent years though, I felt that I wanted to devote my time solely to my fine arts once again and have just sold my Floral Design company which I had operated for 11 years.
While I have pursued these other interests, my artwork has continued, albeit taking a back seat while I raised my two daughters. Although I participated in art or craft shows and won a few art competitions over the years.
